3 - Create and Sell Tutorials

Back to school
Opportunity Overview
Startup Costs: $
Earning Potential: $$

This income opportunity sounds almost too good to be true. You pick a subject you're interested in and are knowledgeable about, then you create some learning material centered around this topic. Once published to a learning site, people can pay to take your course and you'll get paid in turn. This truly is a FREE set-and-forget income opportunity; the type we should all at least have a go at.

The first step is to pick a subject you'd like to train people on. Ideally this will be quite focused, as trying to sell everything to everyone means you often end up selling nothing to anybody.

For example, rather than me creating a "How to build yourself an income 101 ways" training course, I could pick a specific type of income, such as "How to build yourself an income with no investment". I could then focus on the opportunities which require £0 outlay (such as this blog!) and show people how they can start doing it themselves.

Once you've created your content, stick it on a training site like www.udemy.com and see if you get any biters.

Jump in and give it a go - you've literally got nothing to lose!

2 - Party and Event Rentals

This business can be started with a single product, which doesn't have to cost the earth. Think Pick 'n' Mix stand or Novelty Photo booth. You can then expand your product offering at a later date.

This is a really simple concept. You buy something which people will want to use at parties and events, then rent it to them. They won't want to buy the product themselves due it being relatively expensive and only needing to use it once. They've not really got a choice but to hire it, so why not hire from you?

There's loads of ideas to choose from, depending on the type of parties and events you'll be targeting.

Here's just a few ideas to get you started:

Weddings
Pick 'n' Mix Stand
Novelty photo booth

Children's Birthdays
Bouncy castle
Face painting stand
Bubble machine

Office Team Building
Inflatable obstacle course
Sumo fighting outfits

School Prom
Foam machine
Strong man punch machine

1 - Window Cleaning

Startup Costs: $
Earning Potential: $$

With startup costs as low as £100 and the potential to both outsource the work and franchise the business model, this really is a tempting proposition.

Window cleaning is something which really appeals to me. It's an outdoor job, meaning I won't be stuck indoors at a desk all day. It's relatively cheap and simple to set up; just a bucket, a washer and a squeegee and you're good to go! You could also go high-tech by investing in a water fed pole system, but this requires more financial layout as you'll need to purchase something to create pressure and also to de-ionise the water.

Traditional or Water Fed Pole?

Traditional
+ Cheap to start
+ Perfect finish every time
- First floor only; no higher
- More time consuming

This is cleaning windows the "old fashioned" way using a bucket, a washer and a squeegee. This method achieves the best results, as any dirty water is washed away, leaving a clean and dry finish. Window sills and edges can also washed with a clean cloth, leaving a perfectly clean window every time.

All internal windows can be cleaned using the traditional method, as the windows are a lot more accessible from the inside and a perfect finish is usually always guaranteed.

Water Fed Pole
+ Able to reach multiple stories high
+ Quick and easy
- Not a perfect finish
- Only suitable for outdoor windows

With traditional window cleaning, you'll be restricted to working on 1 storey buildings (due to health and safety reasons).
